Short term locks...

I read all the time about how peoples pairs are locked up for over 24 hours. The past few weeks I have noticed quite a few locks between my lesser male and normal girl, but they are always only locked for a couple hours. Last night when I went to sleep at 1am they had just tied tails, and this morning when I woke at 7:30 they werent locked anymore. It seems every lock I've seen with these two has been pretty short. Is this common or do yours usually do the deed for 24+ hours? I know shes building so I'm not worried about him getting it done, but just curious about yalls experience with length of locks.

Mine seemed to range from overnight (~8 hrs) to 48 hours, so maybe it just depends on their mood. I noticed the longer locks later in the breeding (both girls laid eggs a few weeks ago), but I don't know whether that meant something or was just coincidence.

Sometimes ball pythons will lock for as short as 4 hours and sometimes over a day... it just depends on the snakes...

Never put much thought into length of lock, have observed both short and long.

Yeah, I figured as much. It is definitely good to see him so aggressivly locking up with her though. Before these past few weeks they have just been cuddling.
