The tobacco itself MIGHT not have much affect on them. However smoke is probably irritating, and it's the additives in cigarettes that I would be most concerned about; that will harm any living creature.
If the person is handling the snake (or tending to it's care) while smoking, there's an obvious risk that the snake could get burned.
I AM a smoker and think the same thing. If I don't smoke around my son, I wouldn't find it okay to smoke around my animals....on a regular basis anyways. Like Dragonboy said he's gone in there with cigars and I highly doubt that has much of an affect, it's more the long term exposure that is harmful.
