I would say the strongest argument for why private citizens should be able to own, breed, and sell exotic animals is because it infringes upon no one's liberty or rights.

The government feels the need to protect us from ourselves. They(which is really us bribed by lobbyists) obviously know much better what's good for all of us.

This is the land of the dollar.....make no mistake about it. If we had more money than everyone that does not want us to own reptiles there would be no laws against it. Sad...but very true.
