Scales sticking up on Bp's sides?

My male BP Nergal has some scales that, when you rub your hand going up his body towards his head, they feel as though they are sticking out...they're on his side, just above his belly.
? :/
They feel very rough and scratchy, too.
He also is missing a couple of scales on his neck, and I can't figure out from where.
? Anyone else had this?
His life isn't in danger but it is just odd is all.

Well, he's about to shed right now, but he's had them feeling like that for about three weeks. :/
I thought that might be it too but he didn't go blue for quite a while.
