First BP - How long before feeding?

I just brought my first BP home last night. The breeder I picked him up from said he'd be due for his weekly feeding today. He settled into his tank last night and is currently in his cool side hide.

I was planning to leave him alone for a good week or so before disturbing. Should I try to feed him to keep him on his weekly schedule or should I give him a few days to adjust first?

Congrats! Give him a few days to adjust and feed him on the weekend.

I would give him a few days to settle in. If you try to feed to early you risk adding more stress to an already stressed bp. It just isn't worth the added stress in my opinion.... BTW congrats on the pick up.....

i think a few day is not the best suggestion.i think u should wait until ur bp is comfortable in his new home.sometime,if u dont provide good husbandry for ur bp,it still wont eat even u give it a month period to de-stress.so my suggestion, check again ur husbandry(send picture of ur setup so we can give more opinion),let ur bp comfortable with it new home, until u r sure that it ready to eat.

There is nothing wrong with the OP waiting a few days to a week to feed their new snake. As for checking the husbandry, give the OP a break, they just got their snake dude. I'm sure if the OP has any questions or issues they will surely ask for it.

Re: First BP - How long before feeding?

How would I be sure he is comfortable with his new home?

I spent quite a while researching the proper care needed for a BP on the boards here so I'm pretty confident in husbandry, but if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

    Setup:
    20G L Critter Cage with sliding/locking top
2 one foot strips of 11" flexwatt - one warm side one cold side
Herpstat 2 to regulate flexwatt - probes are between the flexwatt and the glass bottom
2 Digital thermometers - probes resting over flexwatt inside the tank
1 100W CHE in 8.5 in lamp controlled by built-in rheostat
HygrosetII - calibrated hygrometer - measures ambient temp and humidity
Cypress mulch - 100% from zoo med
2 identical medium hides from reptile basics
    Ceramic water bowl
    Decor from local pet store
Plexiglass covering 3/4 of the screen top

    Current temps/measurements:
    Cold side @ substrate: 82
    Hot side @ substrate: 92
    Ambient: 79
    Humidity: 50
    *substrate measured with temp gun

Everything looks and sounds really good. Just wait a few days and then you can attempt to feed your snake as was already stated.

Thanks all for the replies. I'll give it a few days as suggested and see how he does this weekend.
