Hey, i'll be getting a tegu soon and have been doing a lot of research around the housing area, and the general way to go is to build your own enclosure,it save's a butt load of cash! You'll need at least a 8x4x3 enclosure for an adult, some say a 6x3x3 is bare minimum but i say that would seem to cramp for a 4-5ft lizard.
You can start a hatchling off in a 40gallon or 4x2x2,though it will out grow that in a matter of months. I say building enclosures is much much easier,i could prob finish one in just a few days (and i suck a carpentry). And if your doing a grow out cage like a 4x2x2 i say it's best to build it being you will only use that for about a good 8months or so..Rather than buy a $300 cage to only be used for a little more than half a year.
For reference on building, there are literally dozen's of build thread on Thetegu.com and Tegutalk.com on tegu enclosures.
Don't get me wrong,If you want to use the vision cage, then go for it if they have one that fits the recommended dimensions.
