Dead Superworms
Hello guys, this is kind of a weird question.
I want to buy some superworms for my beardie, because after coming out of brumation he is tearing through my Dubia colony which isn't that big.
Here is my problem, I am in Fairbanks, Alaska and getting worms shipped here costs about 30 dollars, so, that's not going to happen, but okay, Petco has them, great. The problem with that is, they keep them on the shelves in room temperature without food or water, so they eat each other. Out of a container of 50 giant supers, there are maybe...5-10 in there so I stopped buying them.
I have tried pointing this out to them. Do you think I could go in their with a small clear tub and get someone to pick through all the containers with me until we get the 50 that I want to pay for? Or does that sounds stupid and rude?
Thanks a lot!

Re: Dead Superworms
It doesn't sound stupid or rude in my opinion, but I highly doubt they will do that. I usually just look through all the containers until I find one that is decent.

I'd speak to the manager and explain the problem I've been having. I buy supers by the couple thousand and toss them in a rubbermaid with some oats and bran and they keep forever....

Yeah because its like 6 dollars up here for 50. In my opinion it's a waste of money if I'm only getting 10 or 20.

What you could do is get like 2 thousand big supers from Mulberry Farms (because they're on sale right now and 10 bucks per 1k is a good price), pay the horrible shipping, and then breed your own. Not much work except for having to separate them if you want them to pupate well, and they grow somewhat slow.
Just a thought. You could try just getting some from Petco to start, but with so little, it'd be a SLOW start.
