    Re: 17" flexwatt temperature..?

Just took the dimer out of the circuit and I'm getting a reading of 86° right now. I tried looking at the stamps on the back for info, all i could really read(it was mostly stamped over itself), was 02/27/98, which I'm thinking is a manufacture date? Which would suggest this is the old wattage stuff....I have a feeling I won't be buying from this place again, and I'm sending them an email to try and get my money back. I'll be using the 4" as belly heat in the future, expensive lesson learned

Crappy part is is now I have to keep this POS on until I can get new stuff ordered! Back to filling hot water bottles 3 times a day

I think *not sure* all the 17" from calorique is 10 watt per foot. That is quite low and will not deliver high temps it is great for cool end temp control if you are set up that way.

I got this stuff from THE BEAN FARM, and it SPECIFICALLY SAYS 20 WATTS PER FOOT, that's why I'm kinda pissed.

Interesting, that sounds like a mistake I think the best you will find is 10. I could be wrong however. Did you contact them?

I just sent them an email, but it sounds like they don't do returns on heat tape.

Their site does say 20watts per foot.
I use the 11" from Reptile Basics Works great and DOES need to be regulated

They say it's working fine, won't do anything to help me, so ya, BEAN FARM SUCKS. I'll be ordering from reptile basics now. If the 10 watt stuff puts out the same heat as the 20 watt why the hell did they change it? I'm still convinced they sent me 10 watt stuff and won't fess up to screwing me over.

have an ohm meter? if its 11-12 ohms per foot then its 10 watt, 5.5-6 ohms = 20 watt.

Why not get a thermostat. Big Apple Herp has one for $50.

A t-stat is not going to make any item get any hotter than it was designed for
