I've been using one to control my flexwatt on my 28 qt tub rack and it's on/off style so there is a temp swing of a few degrees but for the money I think it's a great little tstat. Naturally I wouldnt use it for an incubator but for a rack I'll probably end up buying more.
I use one, but only for a regular UTH, no flexwatt yet. It's a great little thermostat for the price though, works great, especially if you're just using it for one or two cages or a small rack.
has any1 tried the Hydrofarm MTPRTC Digital Thermostat For Heat Mats and has any1 used it for flexwatt thanks
I haven't heard anything bad about the Hydrofarm, and I think its great for a UTH. Just keep in mind when using it with flexwatt that Hydrofarm list its max current at 8.3 amps / 1000 watts. http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=3372
Although I wouldn't put anywhere near that much current through it.
Now if you mean flexwatt is in using this thermostat for a flexwatt rack…I personally would not trust the lives of multiple animals in a rack setup with this thermostat. It’s cheap for a reason, cheap parts. A overheating malfunction in a rack setup could mean the death of all the animals in the rack. When it comes to thermostats you get what you pay for. I would strongly recommend at least a Ranco, Johnson or Vivarium VE-100 if you are looking for a thermostat for a rack. http://www.reptilebasics.com/thermostats

These are ok if you are on a tight budget. I have one on one of my racks, and so far so good. The temp. does fluctuate a few degrees, but I will be replacing it at some point with a better one. On my incubator and the rack that houses my females, I have a Herpstat II.
Lots of people on here like them, thats why I picked one up and gave it a try. Worth the money!
