Ok so should I use two diffrent light bulbs? One basking spot light (white) for the day, and switch to red at night? I want to be able to provide the day/night cycles, but want to make sure I'm doing it correctly.

In my opinion, you don't need a basking light. In the wild they hide in burrows/holes during the day, they aren't a "basking" animal such as lizards. You could switch light bulbs day and night, but I think it is a pain in the butt. Lol. When I used a lamp, I switched them day/night but got tired of unscrewing the bulbs twice a day, since I only had one lamp. I believe the natural daylight that enters your room is plenty to provide a day/night cycle. But, I am no expert, so take what I say with a grain of salt

Re: Simple Questions
The ambient light in the room is enough to replicate a day night cycle. As long as you keep your temps and humidy in the zone you are golden.

Thank you everyone for all the helpful recommendation! I do think I'm going to buy another small UTH for the cool side because sometimes the room can get quite cold. I just want the best for my snake!
EDIT:
My whole set up will consist of the following:
1. UTH heater (40 gallon)
1. Red bulb to maintain proper heat
and maybe I'll buy a small UTH for the cool side, so I can maintain 80-84 degrees throughout the day.
Also where does the ambient temps fall into all of this? I know its a silly question!
