Arboreal?
I just bought a very young(if not baby) columbian red tail. Do I need to put some branches in there for the little fellow? It is spending most of it's time up on the handle part of the rubbermaid container I have it in. If they need/like stuff to crawl on, I don't mind providing something for it. It's my first boa.

Re: Arboreal?
Well, they're not as arboreal as say, an emerald tree boa, and they don't need branches, but they definitely seem to enjoy something to climb on. So yeah, if you have the room and you can get them (and make sure they're clean, etc), I think some branches would be a great idea!
And congrats on your new addition btw!! Any pics?

Re: Arboreal?
They are semi-arboreal. They don't spend all of their time in trees, but they are good climbers and do like to perch and will use any elevated shelves or branches that you provide.

Re: Arboreal?
Yup, as was said above they don't need to climb and will certainly do fine without anything to climb on, but they definitely will use any branches/perches you provide them.

yup.. "semi aboreal" would be how I think of them.. My big girl always loved to hang out up on the branches. And my bigger male has snapped the cross bars on the top of his cage many times because of trying to hang from them.. ugh.. lol

It's a good idea, but not a necessity. Some enjoy it, some don't, and keep in mind there may be a temp change between that and the ground.
While in this case it's not really a big deal, I will always say this: look this stuff up BEFORE you buy one.
