Double Rex Transformation

This is the male i held back and wow has he done some changes. Wanting to know if this is all normal with double rex's or is he got something else in there

all of my rexs and double rexs lose and regrow their hair over and over again, double rexs do it at a much more rapid rate though and can even look naked sometimes. my rexs never lose that much hair but have bald spots, then regrow it.

Okay i had a feeling it was due to being double rex. Probably where the mock hairless nickname came from

Almost all of my doubles have gone flat out naked and regrew short soft fur and kept it after that initial molt.

Double rex grow brittle hair that breaks off. Different rats have different levels of brittle . . . ness. So some are able to grow short fur, some are able to grow long fur, some can only grow patches, and some can't grow any!

Here is a litter at about 4 weeks old, they all have a very fine brittle layer of fuzz on them.



I will have to watch as they get older, the dad is very naked with just a little fuzz on him sometimes.
