    Gtp

Ok so we primarily have BPs but Becky and I are both interested in getting a GTP. We have not owned o e before and it's probably going to be a while before any purchase is made but we can't find a huge amount of info on them. Of course our knee jerk reaction was "I want a blue one" lol as I have come to find out that's not really a's easy a's it sounds. But seriously what's the deal with the colors? What phases are readily available without spending an arm and a leg? Other than humidity and temps being a little different what other things should I be aware of? We have read some caresheets and other than those two things they seem to be pretty straight forward husbandry. Are there certain locales to look for or avoid due to specific husbandry requirements or temperament issues?

    Thanks in advance guys

The best advice I can give you is to find a copy of The MORE Complete Chondro by Greg Maxwell.

For the most part, GTPs are pricey, especially for anything that isn't your usual "it's green" green tree python.

Certain localities are known to naturally have more blue (or at least a bright blue stripe) than others...cyclops, arfak, some arus, sorongs, etc. You may want to check out someone who is doing locality blue breedings, they will likely not be as expensive as the true/super blue lines. Jason Steven (coloradochondros.com) has produced some critters with a nice amount of blue for fairly affordable prices.

    Re: Gtp

mainbutter and kristan pretty much covered everything . As far as race vs. temperament, Biaks tend to be more testy than others from what I've read and heard from other keepers/breeders but thats not always the case.

Just be VERY careful...they are just as addicting as BPs! We went from 0-3 in a few months. And post pics if/when you get one .
