    thinking

I am thinking about getting into monitors just not sure where I want to go with them. I would love to breed them because well breeding any reptile is always a great time and an awesome learning experience. I also want great pets. So a little about me and how I live. I am single no kids and live with roommates that love the same animals I do. We have 2 cats and a lot of snakes and also a few hundred rats give or take depending on feeding day lol. So I do have experience with all sizes of snakes and a lot of different lizards ranging from anoles to chams and geckos up to various smaller monitors but I am more looking for a large sized lizard that can be kept in breeding groups of say 1.3 - 1.5 ish. So with all that said what do you think I should get. Prices are not really a problem and I am not lookin for a croc monitor thats just to big for me. I would prefer something that is easy to get along with. Sorry for grammar and punctuation I have not slept yet lol.

    Thank you all in advance
    Tom

sounds like fun, i dont knoow many monitors other then ackies that should be kept in a breeding group tho, especially with groups of 1.3 or 1.5, simply because well youd need a small island to properly house em lol.. when u get into monitors like blackthroats and argus (which im especially interested and patiently waiting to keep) they need really large enclosures and to my knowledge are territorial. plus require alot of funds to properly house em. if you could maby put the breeding off, itd offer alot of more options. like if u have the space a blackthroat, a argu, or even a tegu.. they can all become very good captives and pets. the tegu is a around the same size as the other two but requires much less space at only really needing a 8x4x3 eclosure opposed to the argu needing a 12x6x4 and the black throat needing atleast a 10x6x4.
