Glass to plastic
I'm in the process of switching my snake from her glass tank to a plastic one. It's the proper size for her she she can just grow into it. I have some bungies to wrap around the top (because it's not very secure on it's own). I have drilled holes in it so air can circulate as well as some blocks on the bottom on the uth won't over heat and can keep cool properly.
Now here's what I have to ask. How can I attach the uth? I know I can peel off the white sticky paper and stick it directly onto the tub, but I've seen other keep that on and use the shiny duct tape and tape it on that way. I would prefer to do that, but the directions on the uth say to take off the paper. For those of you who left it on, have you ever had any troubles? Any advice would be great. Thank you.

Tape it to the bottom using foil tape.

Re: Glass to plastic
I have flexxwatt on sheet metal strips and then lay the tubs right on that. That's how my Freedom Breeder racks are set up.
The nice thing about that is when its time to clean the tub you don't have to worry about getting the heating element wet, just lift tub off and drop another one on. I do this a lot for my quarantine set ups. The constant applying and removing or wetting of heating element could damage it.

I hope you have a thermostat to control the UTH, because drilling holes won't keep the bottom of the plastic from overheating...

For how much I would love a rack system, I can't afford one, I don't have room and I only have one snake. I keep her cage on top of my bookcase. lol
So I have to deal with a uth. I'd rather take it on and off then have it get wet.
And I think what I have is foil tape. I'll try it with the tape I have and see how it goes.
Oh god, and yes, I have thermostat. It's currently hooked up the the uth she's using now. When it comes time to switch tanks I'll be plugging in her new uth.

Re: Glass to plastic
All of my UTH's have the paper still on them. I've been using them for over two years with no problems. I used to have them taped directly to the bottom of the tubs, but I now have them mounted to bases that the tubs sit on. Here is the link to the thread where I posted the photos:

Duct tape is gray but foil tape is real shiny looks almost like tin foil. The heater will not get hot enough to hurt the paper and the paper will not block the heat so it is fine to leave it on there.

Thanks for the help about the paper. That was just my main concern. Glad to know you guys also still have it one and it works just fine. Thank you all. =]
