curiosity Q for the breeders with racks...
i guess this Q could also go to the collectors with racks as well...
anyways,
i know with 1 - a few snakes, providing heat for each set up is as easy as installing a heat pad and a thermostat but how do you guys provide heat to racks with multiple tubs?
is it where the heat source radiates heat all through 1 side of the entire rack or do you guys actually have to use a heat pad with every single tub in the rack? that last one makes much more sense to me but then that raises this Q...
most thermostats are designed to work with 2 heat sources but only have 1 probe, (how that is supposed to help monitor 2 heat sources, i've NO clue)...how do you guys work out THAT issue when using thermostat(s) to control all those heat pads?
i keep hearing about heat tape but wouldn't you still have the issue with a single thermostat being able to be plugged into 2 heat sources while only being able to monitor 1 with it's probe?
i'm not planning on doing a rack or anything...these Q's have been bugging me for awhile but i've just never gotten up the courage to post them...

Re: curiosity Q for the breeders with racks...
To heat a rack, you use Flexwatt, which is a thin, plastic heat source. You can use one long piece, or splice many pieces together. Flexwatt comes in many sized and wattages. As long as all of your pieces are the same wattage and size, you can run them on one thermostat output, as long as you do not exceed the maximum output of the thermostat. I run three racks on the same output, and could run many more.

x2 I can see how it would be confusing thinking we used heat pads. That would be a terrible pain. You can put many many feet of flexwatt on one thermostat as long as you dont overload it with too much wattage, which takes A LOT of flexwatt for most therms. The only catch is that is has to be the same size. You cant put a row of 10 inch in your 3 inch rack, that row will get too hot. Some premade racks have heat pannels and work basically the same as flexwatt.
