My bps' eyes turned blue over night. i fed it last night and ended up having to leave it in the feeding cage over night. this morning its eyes were blue. it seems normal and doesnt seem dehidrated. i left a water dish in the cage with it over night but it did drink when I put it back in its inclosure. im sure its not dehidrated scince it ate 2 mice last night. does this normaly happen over night due to the shedding process?

It sounds like a shed. Not all shed go exactly the same; in my experience, sometimes the eyes turn blue and sometimes they turn a very gray/frosty color. I wouldn't be worried.

If his eyes just turned blue last night, he's actually more in the beginning of the shed cycle. Over the next couple of days his eyes will clear up again, but his skin will still look dull. Then a few days after that he should shed. You should keep the humidity around 70% during this entire process.

A lot of times they will drink after eating just to "wash it down" so to speak haha But since it was a several hours after eating, I would say he probably didn't feel comfortable or secure enough to drink until you put him back into his enclosure. I suppose it could have something to do with shedding too, since he could have felt that he needed more fluid to help separate the two layers of skin.

The only thing I'm concerned about is that you left him with a water dish but no heat source overnight?? Since you're down in Louisiana I'm sure it was warm enough, but it's always a good idea to provide them with some sort of heat, even if it's just a hand warmer heat pack stuffed in a sock.

i did have a infrared lamp hanging above the feeding cage. i always leave him in the cage for a while after he eats with the lamp and water. i am new to bps but i read alot about them. its just that the books dont go into that much detale so i come here to ask people who are experienced.

ive placed a bit of damp moss in his hide spot. the humidity in the cage stays between 55 and 65. i figured the moss would put the box at around 70 or 75. i have a meter i put in there and i will check it often.
