    Re: het question

Papers are just for reselling the animal, if bhb sells me a het and john schmo sells me a het with papers, who do still feel more comfortable with? I think pictures of parents breeding and clutch photos mean more than papers to me. of course they can still be faked, that's why reputation is the biggest thing.

but since john schmo might buy an animal from bhb and then resell it later, john schmo can show the paper work he got from bhb to the buyer. Bout the only use I see of papers.

but to answer your question, you will not know what your buying 100%, anything can be faked, though most people just don't take the time or effort to do it. If you ever got caught, your rep would be ruined and no one besides unknowing customers would buy from you.

Of course a true pair of hets could possibly never produce a homozygous, always a chance, 75% of the time it will not be homozygous. but after 10 eggs, you only have a 5% chance of not producing a single homozygous. after 20 eggs you only got a .3% chance.
