    Ovulation?

hey everyone, this is lily, my 2004 normal female. her last weigh in was 3/9/11 and she was 2584g and has been off feed since 2/27/11. she was paired first on 12/20/10 and had her first lock 12/22/10. she has not locked with my proven breeder male pastel since 1/24/10.

since this is my first year breeding I can only go by what I have read and seen and it appears it's harder to see an ovulation in bigger girls and I think pushing 2600g is a pretty decent size so im just wondering if I do in fact have an ovulation or am I just really close to one?

thanks for all your help bp.net

there is quite a definite paunch in her figure and it looks similar to the markus Jayne article I have read so much.

    Re: Ovulation?

Doesn't look it to me. A snake that thin should look HUGE when ovulating! I'm not saying she's too thin to breed...She just seems to have a more slender build? She's probably still building.

I could be wrong though...Maybe it's an ovy? Good luck!

hm, I would have thought 2600g is rather large?

Here is a pic of my big girl Bertha thats bigger then your girl.Yes its somewhat harder to see when the big girls go but you will see the differance. The first thing they do though is start glowing before they ovulate. This means a dark girl will look very light in color for a couple weeks.I dont think yours is ovulating yet but she could be building. So keep pairing her with the male until they no longer lock .

she was glowing for about 3 weeks then recently stopped and she hasn't locked with the male for around a month. I was confused when she stopped glowing.

Well if she goes into shed keep track of it once she sheds. Then watch for eggs in about 27 to 32 days after her shed.Do you have your incubator up and running with the correct temp setting?

Weight has nothing to do with build. I have a 3500 gram male who is on the thin side...He just happens to be nearly 6' long. Your snake looks like she is at a fine weight, but she isn't as thick as some of them get...Not a bad thing at all.
