As far as how often you have to spray, it depends on if you're going to be keeping it in a tank or a tub. I have mine in a tank (but moving to a tub soon) and I normally have to spray about 3 or 4 times a day to keep the humidity at 50-60%, and then during the shed cycle I mist for longer and it goes up to 5 or 6 times per day. I bet with a tub it's a lot easier though, and you might only have to mist twice a day (which is one of the reasons I'm switching haha).

It also depends on the time of year. During the spring and summer it's a little easier, I believe I usually only have to mist twice a day then. Winters are just so dry around here!

Now, I'm still a little confused as to why you can't have a humidifier? I don't have one at the moment because I just don't have the room, but I thought most humidifiers just plugged into the wall... and if you put it as close as possible to where your ball python's enclosure will be, I think it would work fine.
The reason I cant have humidifier in my room is because even in the winter, my windows drip like heck. So, it would ruin the window even more. Thats probably the only reason a corn would be better for me.
