gotta new bp and need help I'm a little leary

Ok I understand he needs a week or two to get adjusted to his new home but I got an albino male yesterday and I'm not sure about him my other snake is female and the day I got her I could hold her and stick my hand in her tank and everything was fine but I dnt have that feeling with this one he hasn't struck at me or anything but do males tend to be more aggressive or mean than females. Oooo and this is my second albino the other albino male I had was exchanged for this one cause he was to aggressive and my mom is already terrified of snakes anyway but the first one did try to bite me a number of times

I understand the fear of being bitten, but young bp's can be that way sometime. Usually with a little handling they will calm down. The bite isn't as bad as you would think, but if you are worried about it buy yourself a pair of leather gloves. Handle him with these for a while, and he will more than likely calm down. As for males being more aggressive than females, I personally haven't found that to be true. My most bite prone bp is a female...

Males aren't more aggressive than females..

side note snakes bite, you keep snakes you're going to get bit it's just part of it..also babies snakes are more likely to bite because we trigger the "holy crap a huge freaking predator" response..

Omg hahahahahahaha freakie that made me laugh in the middle of the coffee shop where I work for no reason! Lol

To the op I recommend letting him settle in and then gradually handling him. No more than 5-10 mins to start for a while and see if that helps him be secure. Also be sure your husbandry is 100% spot on so he has as little stress as possible while he settles in to life in your house and learns you are not a predator

Every snake has their own personality. As I've read plenty before, young or juvenile BP's are naturally defensive and nippy. Not because they want to eat you, but because they are afraid of being eaten. Not saying ALL juveniles are that way, just some more than others. But they grow out of it as they get older, along with regular handling of course. I haven't seen or read any documented evidence that prove if male's are more aggressive than females.

I could be wrong, but I honestly haven't heard anything of it yet. I've seen both aggressive females and males. But like I had mention, they all have their own personalities.

Well since he's new, just give him some space. Don't rush into getting him tamed. Let time do that for you, and take your time with him. Eventually he will settle in, and he'll become less stressed. Then you can enjoy your time handling and caring for him.

That was a fact I had to accept when I decided to get a BP. Now it's just about when you will get bit. Lol
