Arrow If you could have ONE morph under $250...

    Hello,

I'll be getting my first BP at the White Plains reptile expo this April. I still live at home and I'm only allowed to get one snake. Obviously I've been doing as much research as I can before I bring the snake home. The snake I'll be getting will be a juvie.

So, if you had $250 to spend, what morph would you get? I'm thinking Pastel, Mojave, Pinstripe... etc. One of my favorite morphs is Bumblebee, but I'd have to get a good deal on one because it's a little out of the price range.

    Post away...
    Have a nice day,
    Mitch

I personally would wait a little longer to buy your snake. The 2010 hatchlings are almost gone, with the best specimens long gone. Wait until the breeders are flush with babies and everyone has a large supply. Then you can pick and choose the best snake for the money. Breeders will want to deal a lot more if they have 40 hatchlings instead of 4 like they do now.

Plus, if you wait a few months, you can save more money and that bumblebee may be attainable.

    Good Luck!

    Jim,
I'm only going to have this snake for about a year and a half (leaving for college) so I'd like to maximize my time with it. I'm also sort of impatient... I want the snake now!

I don't care if it's not the best specimen, I just want something nice that will make a good pet.
    Have a nice day,

I agree, one of the later shows would be better if you want a nicer variety.

But, just to answer your original question, I personally would get a female mojave (which would probably be a little more than $250) or a male spider. My all time favorite morph that I'm saving up for is a hc albino male though... I've wanted one ever since I first started reading more about bps!

My advice is to listen to that little voice in your head. I can't tell you which morph to buy. Beg a few dollars from the parents and maybe you can get that snake you really want. If not, go to the show and buy the best looking snake within your budget.

    Good Luck!

Wait, what do you mean you're only going to have this snake for a year and a half?? What's happening to it when you go away to college?? Do you have someone that can take good care of it for you while you're away?

Yeah, unless you have someone to take care of it while you are away, I'd just recommend not getting it. Although you can have them in some college's (might have to sneak it in), but people will find out and run their mouths.

I love the spiders, and pinstripes. Both of those you should be able to get for under $250.00. Best luck in your search....

Honestly, I would save yourself the cash and grab a normal. They may be called normal, but they really are beautiful. I think a normal is the best starter snake just because they are really reasonably cheap and you usually have a lot of selection as far as temperment, size and patterns
