feeding in tank
would it be okay to feed my bp inside her tank this one time? she has had an RI for a while now. i just gave her a shot and i dont want to take her out again to try and feed her in another container. she hasnt eaten in a month or so and she wouldnt eat last time i tried to feed in the other container.

Re: feeding in tank
You can ALWAYS feed a bp inside its enclosure. Moving the snake to a separate enclosure just for feeding could actually give you the exact opposite result than you're looking for. Ball Pythons do just fine when fed in their normal tank/tub. Moving them to a new tub or tank before feeding will only stress your snake, which could trigger a refusal. If your snake DOES eat in the other enclosure, you still have to pick him/her back up and move back to the normal enclosure, which could trigger a regurge. It's MUCH easier to just use the one tub for everything...
And no, contrary to popular belief, feeding your bp inside its normal enclosure will NOT make your snake suddenly decide to try to eat your hand every time you open the tank. They can tell the difference between a mouse/rate and a large human reaching their hand into the enclosure.

Absolutely, I always feed mine in the tubs.

just toss the rat in there and it will be fine. she may or may not eat because of the RI and the shots. feeding inside the enclosure is the best way to go
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

There isn't much variance in taking them out and feeding, and feeding in their enclosure.
So, go for it!

I always feed in her tank. Usually when I get home with a rat, shes quick to pop her head out of her hide, and jump straight to that typical "S" shape, waiting for me to drop the rat in so she can strike. I don't know how she knows, but she does! On a rare occasion, I'll have to lift her hide that she's asleep in, and take it out of the tank, give her a minute to start moving, then drop the rat in, and she strikes right away.

i just tried to feed her till i realized she was asleep in her hide with her head tucked on so i took her hide off of her and im going to drop the rat in once she moves around some.

Just let her wake up, and once you notice her head starting to move around, drop the mouse in and she should be good to go. If you really want to make sure she's awake, handle her for a few minutes, set her back in, and drop in the prey! Should be golden!
