bp chillin in water bowl
well my bp has a RI. i have been giving her shots and soaking her a few times a week. i gave her a shot and soaked her yesterday. i have had her almost a month and she has had the ri almost all that time. she never comes out of her hide. well last night after her soak i put her back in her tank. a hour or so later i checked on her and she was out wandering around the tank. i came back a few hours later and all 3ft of her was coiled up in her water bowl. this is a first and she has been in her water bowl for almost 24 hours now. all her temps are good and she just shed not even a week ago. is this normal? maybe she just loves water?

Check for mites, which can cause a snake to stay in water constantly.

I agree, ball pythons don't stay in their water bowl for no reason typically. Check for specks in the water, and her body, and check your humidity. She may be uncomfortable due to one of the two.

her humidity stays around 60% and there is nothing in the water. the water temp is right at 90. she was looking a little dehydrated a few days ago. she is breathing better because of the warm water. i have a heating lamp that stays almost right over the bowl too.

Yeah id say check for mites also. Check the eyes and the vents and the end of the nose, they like to hide there.

i just took her out and checked her really good. i got a flashlight and looked at her belly really good and i could not find anything. i also checked the water and there was what looked to be like a little bit of dirt in the bottom of her bowl. some was big and some small. she was also a little bit wet when i put her back in the other day so im thinking it could be dirt from the substrate. i have to give her a shot and feed her tomorrow so i will check really good then. i cant seem to get rid of this RI she has so im going to call the vet to see what to do about that.

Well if she's an adult I've also heard right before females ovulate they stay in their dish a lot. Found that out today, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
