Why are people such hippocrits (sorry if I spelt it wrong)?

I went to the pet store today to pick up a feeder rat and a "friend" of mine was in the car with me (we just know each other thats why I quoted "friend"). I told him I needed to stop by the pet store real quick to pick up a rat. I went in, got the rat, and got back in the car. He asked what the rat was for and I told him it was for my snake. Then he made this huge "GASP!!!" and literally started crying his eyes out. I asked him what was his problem and he said "how could you feed a cute little rat to a mean snake?".

I really didin't know how to respond. I told him the beef and chicken he eats doesn't grow on trees and that living bretahing animals are killed for it. I garuntee you that cow went through a hell of a lot more pain that this rat will. Yet he says thats "different". How is that different you fool?

    Some people....ugh.

Some people are completely irrational. There's nothing that can be done about it pure and simple.

I just will not enter into conversation about things like this with most people anymore. It's easier just to nod and smile.

Show him this video and ask him how in fact it is different. I'd say it's worse how they treat beef, pork, and chicken...

Haha, he actually started crying? I wonder what he would say if you fed your snake a dead rat instead. If he agreed, pull the rat out of the bag and snap its neck in front of him. "There, happy now?" lol

Is your friend on hormones or missing them? Something doesn't sound right. I've had pet rats but animals are animals. Some feed other animals. That's life.

does he have cats that have ever been let outside? Many people have barn cats to specifically kill rats and mice..and cats don't always just kill the animal right away, they tend to enjoy the whole playing with their food thing. I know our rats, especially p/k and f/t get a much more humane end to their life than almost anything a dog, cat, or human kills to eat.

To the left, all of you who have posted so far have all the sensitivity of a ballpean hammer.

So the guy cried about an animal being killed by another animal. Wow. That's terrible. In fact, that's soooooo terrible, that he must not be a man at all. Heh.

This guy, because he's different is somehow LESS than all of you Manly Men? Again, heh.

I say, heh, that the lot of you are a bunch of cretins.

After all, there is NO point in trying to understand HIS point of view when he clearly does not, or is it can not, understand yours. Is there? Why be tolerant or, heaven forfend, try to educate him about feeding snakes WITHOUT attacking him for eating meat.

That's really pretty lame. The one has NOTHING to do with the other.

The guy may be a wuss. but so what? Wusses don't get to have opinions? And who's to say he's really a wuss? You cowboys who are so blessed as to be able to feed one animal to another without feeling guilt or remorse which, since YOU don't feel it, must be wrong, bad, evil even.

    Yeah.

Glad I'm not 'friends' with some of you tolerant non-gossipy folks.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?
