    First ever lock!

I tried breeding my male spider with my normal female a week and a half ago. I kept them together for 3 days, and didn't witness a lock and they didn't really seem to show much interest.

Today I put my normal male with her, and within 30 minutes this is what I saw:

I couldn't see anything too clear, but I would say this looks like a lock!!

I am gonna pair my spider with her again. I would much rather have some spider babies, but since this is my first attempt at breeding I would just be happy with a successful egg laying and incubating.

Once I get my first clutch under my belt, then I will try to fine tune the breeding.

That "could be" but I wouldn't call that a confirmed lock, but he's definitely trying to work his magic

If you want spiders I'd definitely keep the normal male away from her.
Give your spider chances more often, I pull males after 2 days of no locks and no noticeable breeding interest and give 2 days rest and back in again over and over.
If they lock up I allow more time together but if they show no interest in 2 days chances are they just aren't interested at the moment.
Make sure to introduce your spider right after she sheds as in the same day, you're more likely than not to get a lock up after she sheds.

    Re: First ever lock!

I would have to agree with snakesRkewl.
I do not see a definite lock. His tail needs to be under hers, looks like her tail is flat on the tub bottom. Yeah, and if your wanting Spiders, just keep putting the male Spider in with her.

I don't see a lock there either. Getting close though!

    Re: First ever lock!

I just got home from work, and they are definitely locked now!

Thanks for the advice, and I agree -- the spider will be getting the rest of the action from here on out! I just wanted to see what my normal male would do since the spider got shot down previously. Being this is my first breeding attempt, and I got a bit of a late start; I just wanted to make sure I had the conditions right and all of this wasn't in vain.

Once my normal unlocks from her; how long should I wait until I put the spider in?

    Thanks!
