If you want spiders I'd definitely keep the normal male away from her.
Give your spider chances more often, I pull males after 2 days of no locks and no noticeable breeding interest and give 2 days rest and back in again over and over.
If they lock up I allow more time together but if they show no interest in 2 days chances are they just aren't interested at the moment.
Make sure to introduce your spider right after she sheds as in the same day, you're more likely than not to get a lock up after she sheds.
