New BP set up glass 55 gallon

I tend to have a night life cause of work, and I'd like to see my royal out and about in his comfort zone. I'm new to the snake keeping idea but I set up a enclosure that isn't in a tub so I can enjoy my night life friend. I didn't get a ball yet because in my 55 gallon glass aquarium enclosure I can't get my humidite up. I'd love any logical suggestions that still include him being in my 55 gallon.

    thanks,
    Ben

2 hides one on hot and cold, one water dish mid-cold side, some soon to be more fake plant cover, 50-60 zilla UTH (with A-life thermostat), 2 zilla therm and hyd's. 'OVER HEAD'; long fluescent not enough watts or kelvin to matter, 2 zilla "day time" light's (incandescent blue), and one night time light (incandescent red) .

I really could use some help from the people that have tried to use their set up as a hidden, but show quality set up.

What are you using for a top? What are you planning on getting for a Ball?

Tank set-ups are not a lot of fun when it comes to humidity. It's why 90% of people start with tanks, and then discover the joy and ease of keeping their critters in tubs and never look back. I can't even imagine the fun of breaking down and cleaning/disinfecting a 55 gallon tank every month.

Honestly - if I want to see my snakes, I simply take them out of the tubs. If you're wanting a display snake, I'd recommend looking into other species of snakes. A ball python really is not a good choice for a display snake. They're really not out a lot, even at night. You'll have a pretty tank with pretty hides, and that's about all you're going to see, even at night. You may see him out for an hour or two, but that's about it.

Large lavish tanks are not for the animal's pleasure, they're always for the owner's pleasure. A ball python won't care either way.

You can try putting sphagnum moss in the hide on the cold side. This will create it's own micro-climate within your tank and whenever he needs humidity he'll go in there. Just keep the moss moist. It won't mold or mildew. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the responses.

Right now I just have screen top and I'm trying to think of where I might be able to pick up a clean plastic or plexy glass piece to put over most of that to help hold humidity in.

I have some sphagnum moss and will do what you recommended Tony, since I have enough do you think it would be better to put some in both hides?

    thanks,
    Ben

You might also try some aluminum foil and saran wrap to help with the heat and humidity on the top, also try to partition that tank so it isn't so large for a baby Ball.

Go to lowes or home depot. and they will cut the plexi to the size you need. you can also try small hardware stores.

it is a bit of a difficult task, lol!! But my girl uses every inch of it and eats like a pro so I'm okay with the work. She seems to enjoy having options of different hides around the tank. Moving her to a real custom enclosure soon, though, so even though it's still a big enclosure it will be easier to clean!
