Opinion on potential Vision Rack Purchase.. Fair Price??

So I have been calling exhaustingly all over the state of California looking for Used Racks. I already had found a hatchling/juvenile rack for my BPs, so the next step was going to be the sub-adult/adult rack. After hours upon hours of research and calling random reptile shops and craigslist ads, I finally found to what I think is a pretty killer deal.

What do you guys think of a Vision versa-rack (from what the guy said it can hold up to 10 CB70s, or if you substitute in smaller tubs you can obviously fit more) and comes with a Johnson A-419 Thermostat for $600.00? He said it was maybe used for a month or two. Good deal? I think I might be able to talk him down a little also. Going Friday to pick em' up if you all think its worth it!

Thanks for the insight as always everyone! Happy breeding! Happy Ball Python Season!

I have hear this, but figured a couple sheets of melamine on the sides.. or something even a little lighter would stiffen er' up and help with the humidity? I just feel if I can talk him down to around 4 or 5 hundred, then it might be worth it, especially with the therm included..

    I dunnnooooo.....

You can build a 10 slot 41qt rack for 300 complete with heat, tubs and thermostat depending on thermostat you use.

My 9 slot was 280 complete. Vision isnt worth 4-500 especially if you need to alter it

I was sold on these racks til I looked at this thread...I read the customer reviews on their site and it seems other breeders are having good luck with them?

I actually e-mailed Tracy Barker on this since she was listed on their site and she said she uses them for all their hatchling racks with no issues. But I think she uses something else for adults. I'm probably switching my melamine racks over to Freedom Breeder. Expensive but built like a tank. I am probably going to use Vision for hatchings though.

I've had great luck with my animal plastics racks and reptile basics racks (both purchased used).

I have never used visions though.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the added info. The only probs I have heard is of multiple snake escapes. I think if you use the vision tubs then it isn't as much of a prob, but if you use Iris or Sterilite, they don't fit as tight and they can get out.

Also, since they are so "open" they work pretty well, apparently, in a controlled temp/humidity room. For just a bedroom, I guess people were having shed problems and feeding got worse in some instances because of temp fluct's.

Anywayysssss, we will see how much I can talk the guy down. I have a space heater (in my room) where other rack already is and temps seem to be constant around 80ish. I could always add a humidifier if need be. (if I do go this route)

HOWEVER, just south of where this guy is, I found today on CraigsList a girl that has a 9-Bin, CB-70 homemade rack, melamine I am sure, for $200. Now Therm, but ALSO found a Helix for sale right by her house for $40.

AT LEAST I HAVE OPTIONS!!! hahaha. Will keep you all posted with how everything turns out! Thanks again for the input!!
