Too large of a food item?

    Hey guys,

Just fed my bp shrike today, moved up to a bigger rat size, and I'm worried it was a little big for him. He'd been eating weaned (or weened?) rat pups for the last month or so and had gotten to a point where he was too big for them. He weighs 320ish grams, the rat pups were 20-30, now I bumped up to a 50. I'm worried it might be hurting him, I've NEVER seem him stretch out his jaw so much. Will they attempt to eat too large of a food item?

    CHeers,
    Fatal

That's pushing it some, try (2) 20g weaners, 48g is 15% of your snakes weight
