On what everyone has said so far. I highly recommend finding a breeder in your area. There has To be one or two in your area. Petstore babies are always super stressed and generally HUNGRY! I think going to a breeder, you will get a more well rounded baby, one who's been handled and not stressed beyond reality, not to mention fed right. Plus you can speak with a breeder about their experiences, and the individual snake personality. This year I had a few first time snake owners and I always make sure to go over the basics, as well as let them see all the babies, and I generally tend to give the first timers the easy going babies. Some are nippier than others and a breeder will know who's who and what's what, and if they have never handled before I make sure they learn How to pick up and handle the animal before they even leave. See if a nearby breeder can do this with you. I love the bps as they really are the best snakes in the world. Maybe I'm biased. Idk. I always recommend bps as great first timers too because of their personalities. I have 2 very pesky cats that get into everything and I have to lock my snake room bc they like to try and climb up the racks but you may not have that issue. Either way I keep them away from my snakes. They are brats tho and that's why. Good
Luck in finding your new snake! Give us some pics when you pick out your new buddy!
