worst belly rot... what do i do?
My ball python has the worst case of belly rot i have ever seen, and i have even looked at some pictures on this site of bad cases and his is 100 times worse. he has large scabs going all the way down to his tail from about the middle of his body. i have been cleaning him and his cage and checkin him regularily but i just checked him now and it is so severe now i dont know what to do. i feel awful and im not sure even with antibiotics that he is gunna be able to recover. what should i do?

Number 1 thing, if you can afford it and if one is in your area (some areas have no herp vets), is call and make an appointment with a herp vet.
Secondly, buy some Betadine from walmart and mix it with a tub of water until it turns a light tea color. Then soak her for 10-15 minutes. (Btw before you add betadine, put the snake in the plain water because they like to take a drink when they're first introduced. After a few minutes, add the Betadine) After the soak, put some Neosporin (with no painkiller) along the entire length of scale rot. Repeat until you see the vet.
If you cannot afford a vet or one is not in your area, follow these steps listed above. If it keeps getting worse...
Good Luck!

One more time: go to a herp vet!
If you apply neosporin yourself, it is very important that you use plain neosporin without painkiller.

Are you sure its scale rot and not a burn? what are you using for heat and how are you regulating it?

Please DON'T post pictures. I'd rather not see the damage...
The snake was your responsibility and they don't develop horrible scale rot overnight. So the fact is you let the snake get this way, now take some responsibility and take it to a vet. No quick fix. And if you can't afford a vet then surrender it to a rescue. I'm sorry if I sound mean. But it is tough love. I've heard way too many cases of this, been involved in one case personally and My Gosh my parents can take care of my snake husbandry wise while I am away at college and they know squat about snakes. So C'mon people! Very disappointing... and unacceptable.
GL with your snake.
