    Okay, 55 gallon tanks are really hard to keep up, but you can do it. Our snake is in one for now with about 3-4 hides until we build a different enclosure.

    Cover most of the top of the screen! Use wood, aluminum foil, something. Heat rises up, and screens let humidity escape. Try a different substrate that holds in humidity. Right now, all the water evaporating is exiting out the top of the tank. Block it from leaving.

    That's weird that it suddenly changed. Are you sure the right part of the humidity checker is IN the tank?
