I currently have a bp and a corn and although their are great pets I feel like I want to start getting into the biggerish snakes..... when I was researching about bigger snakes I found Dumerils boas which look awsome but I have a couple of questions.....
1. how are they for handeling? (meaning are they more like corns active or bps slow barely moving chill) They are a bit lively when you first get them out, but they calm down after a few minutes and are pretty docile.
2. what do they need for housing? They can be kept in tanks and tubs as they grow, but by the time they exceed 5 feet, you should be moving them into more permanent caging.
3.are they picky eaters ( my bp was and that wasnt really fun ) Sometimes they can be picky as youngsters, but after a couple of months, they will generally feed readily. Their feeding responses can range from shy, leaving a F/T prey in overnight, to an agressive feeding response.
4.do they have any special requirements? Sometimes they will burrow, so a thicker layer of substrate should be provided or 2 hides. Also, they tend to drink more water and pee more frequently, so more frequent spot cleanings are needed.
Thanks, Melissa
