Ivermectin is known to cause nerve damage in some animals. Go with the known remedy, prevent-a-mite.

3 words: Prevent A Mite.

Its all you need to treat mites! No need to mix your own solutions, or trust someone else on "what will work".

Soak your snake in tepid water with a drop of dish soap and that will drown the mites on your snake for immediate relief while waiting for the prevent a mite to arrive.

i allready have provent a mite. it only kills the mites in the enclosure and not the mites that are actually burrowed in to the snake....

At this point overkill is fine as long as it doesn't hurt my animals. Im tired of using all the pet store remedies like reptile relief and zoomed. They don't work. In the past i've used pam wich works ok but i need something to kill the mites on my snakes

Ivermectin is a strong pesticide and if used incorrectly can be disastrous. It is administered orally in dogs (it can cause side effects or death in some breeds) so I'd assume a vet would treat a snake the same way (or its possibly injected into the snake?).

Why risk it when there is a GREAT and PROVEN product, Prevent-a-Mite, that is 100% effective and safe for snakes. Your right, reptile relief and the zoomed products don't work.

PAM does kill mites on the snakes. Once you treat the bedding as per the instructions, the chemical's presence kills the mites on the snake and in the enclosure. We had a snake in QT that had mites, treated the bedding and a day later...no mites, in the cage OR on the animal.

I've used Ivermectin before, my first ball had mites. I took him to the vet & they had me mix it into a solution that I sprayed on him and I'd rub it on him & then spray everything in his enclosure. I had to throw all of the furniture in the enclosure away. I threw away everything in the enclosure and used cheap tupperware for water bowls (so I didn't mind throwing them away) and then cardboard boxes for hides. It took a while but we eventually got those suckers knocked out. I wouldn't recommend using it without a vets instruction though.

Reptile relief is garbage....i've sprayed it on my snakes and still see mites crawling around on them the following day....It doesn't kill anything on contact. I speak from experience.

Did you spray the enclosure and everything? If not thats why you still have them.

Trust me i allways have a can of provent a mite on hand. It does kill some of the mites but not all....and you cant get black knight anymore.

I swear i would think most of you guys on this forum have stock in provent a mite or something, the way you guys swear by it...it really doesn't work all that great. yes it probably is the best thing on the market right now that is made specifically for treating snake mites but thats not saying much....black knight was a great product but thanks to pam and pam's lawyers its no longer available in california or most other states.
