Beautiful creature.
Reminds me of a big Luna that terrified my neighbors a few years back. Late one summer afternoon, I'm outside enjoying the weather when the lady next door starts yelling and having hysterics. So I run across the street to see what's wrong.
She's in her yard, right next to her house, and she's pointing at the door and yelling incoherently. I grabbed her and shook her, trying to get her to tell me what was wrong.
Finally, she spluttered something about green and huge and bite. So I start looking in the grass for the snake I presume she saw. She keeps pointing at the house and yelling. Finally I look up and notice, there is a magnificent adult Luna moth resting next to the door of her house. That is what she was screaming about. A moth.
I went over to it and gently persuaded it to climb onto my finger, with her screaming it was going to bite me the whole time. I asked her if she realized it was a moth and that moths don't bite, but I don't think she heard me. She continued to yell while I walked back across the street and placed the moth gently in the flowers behind my house where she couldn't see it.
By the time I came back around the corner of my house she had bolted into her own house and locked the door. She refuse to come back out that night. Because of a moth.
I still shake my head over that one.
