    Feeding Tips

I have a 230g female ball. She's an awesome feeder. She often gets a "bad bite" on her prey (i.e. bites it on the side, hip, etc). What are some tips for helping her get a good bite the 1st time (i.e. on the head/nose). I hate to see her struggle to get herself situated so that she can eat. I usually put her in her feeding box and then lay the prey belly down with its head facing her head.

You can make the head of the rat a tad hotter than the rest of the body by dipping just the head in hot water or using a blow dryer. This gives the snake a higher chance of striking the head.

Also, you can introduce the rat by dangling its head close to the snake while you hold on to the tail using tongs.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Watching them find the correct end is actually pretty entertaining as long as they do find it and eat

    Re: Feeding Tips

As long as you're feeding ft/pk, it's nothing to worry about. She will most likely grow out of it. One of my boas always took a good 30 minutes to find the head of the mouse for the first year of her life, but now she's figured it out.
