    BP not eating.....

Well ive come across the first time that one of my BP is not wanting to eat.....

Hes one of my newest BP's as well as one of my largest. we rescued him around 4 months ago. He has ate good every week. Hes been well feed(quite thick) and around 3 1/2 ft long. I have feed him small rats every week like clock work on saturday. cage temps are right on point, he has 2 hides, cool side and warm side, he averages hanging on the warm side more frequently.

Only thing to change that i have noticed is he just shed on friday, we changed caged over 2 weeks ago and weather here in st. louis has been extremely cold (thermostat in cage hasnt changed at all though)

I noticed one spot on his stomach that seems that he may have burrowed down and slightly burnt his belly from the UTH (maybe 1/2-1in) looks like starting to be healing, pinkish. (Ive added some bedding to his tank once i noticed this)

    Any input is appreciated

    Re: BP not eating.....

If he has a good body weight it's not something I would worry about, BP especially when reaching sexual maturity will tend to go of feed especially during the winter months.

Now you mention that your husbandry is on spot from my experience being on spot does not always mean the same based on where you originally got your advice from.

How big is your enclosure, what are your temps and humidity, do you use a digital thermometer and hygrometer and where do you take your reading at? Also do you provide tights hides?

You also mention changing enclosure to be honest when an animal already has feeding issue the last thing that should be done should be to change enclosure and add additional stress.

Now what I really want to address is this

If you have a thermostat I do not see how your animal could suffer from a burn unless your T-Stat failed or you had a spike in temperature, are you sure it's a burn? Where is the probe of your thermostat?

Do you have any pictures of the burn?
Also, it is very common for ball pythons to not eat, again like Deborah said it's normal as long as he's a healthy weight you shouldn't worry, keep trying to feed don't give up hope.
