100% humidity for eggs...... question

So most people use either vermiculite/perilite/hatchrite or whatever else to achieve 100% humidity.

I was wondering, can you use put water in the tub with a layer (or two) of the light dispersion plastic for the eggs to sit on? That'd keep super high humidity and yet the eggs would be safely away from the water.

Thoughts?

Yep, quite a few people do that. It's called the no-sub method (no substrate). It works a little better if you add some perlite or vermiculate under the egg crate to keep the water from sloshing around on the eggs when you move the container.

I've hatched many clutches using that method.

x 2, I couldn't find any perlite last season so I sent substate-less, worked great for me.
