    First rack! wahoo

so i built thing puppy before i'll ever get my snake lol but i get excited about things I decided to go with racks this time cause last time i had snakes i had used glass aquariums, and a home-made huge plexi-glass tank.... i always had problems with humidity because how big of tanks I used and I always thought they needed large cages from what the pet store told me when I was a kid... now that ive been breeding dart frogs for quite a few years I decided to get back into snakes... so anyways heres my first rack.. nothing too special.. just big enough for one lil project, ... which knowing me will turn into about 30 projects anyways i'm pretty satisfied... still waiting on flexwatt and hides that i ordered from reptilebasics but the helix is ready to go. anyways tell me what u guys think...good..bad.. w.e

how did you start with somthing like this? it looks really nice, did you have to build it yourself? or did you buy the shelves and make it into a rack?

Only thing your going to hate is the bottom shelf being on the ground. Your temps will be hard to maintain in that slot. I Keep all racks bottom shelf 6" + raised off the ground

    Re: First rack! wahoo

yea the bottom rack is a pain in the butt already. Its suppppper snug so ima have to shave a bunch off of the tub.... As far as building the rack i bought 8 foot long sheets up melamine and cut it. i can say one thing that cutting 8 ft long sheets up this alone IS NOT easy. It woulda been a TON easier with some help but i managed and didn't have too many problems. i built it upside down so the bottom shelf was actually the top. It made things a lot easier. i put cds in between the tubs for the perfect gap size even though the bottom one didn't work out as i had planned lol. anyways hope this helps

Quick fix for raising rack up is, screw 2x4s on the bottom and bolt 4 or 5" Caster wheels on it. This will raise it up and help with moving.
