    Hide or no hide?

Should I use hides in my rack?????? I can not decide! I will be using tight tubs and will not have much room for hides if at all unless I put the snakes into tubs large than I think they need. What are your opinions?

    Re: Hide or no hide?

I always provide one at the beginning than if I see that they don't use it, or do well without one I remove it, however I have snakes in tight tubs that do not do good if they don't have a hide.

It's a case by case decision based on my animals and what works for each specific animal.

I offer hides until they reach around 800g.
After that I remove the hide, and so far all have done fine.

    Re: Hide or no hide?

It's definitely a case by case thing for my snakes.
I start with hides and if they stop using them and continue to hide under the paper towels I remove the hide.
I have only 2 snakes that will even use hides and they will probably do like the others and stop using them at some point.

My pastels get on top of the hide! Should I still use them? The hides?

I do not start my snakes out with hides. If I see they are stressed or not eating, I will offer a hide. If I notice they are not using them, I remove their hides.

I put hides in all my tubs. And all 15 of my balls use them at some point.

I also give hides to the young ones. They usually get it taken away at 400-500 grams. No matter how tight/short your tubs are you can find hides to fit. I use plastic flower pots and there isn't any reason you couldn't fit one in your tubs. I have to cut mine so they aren't so tall, but that's no big deal.
