    Mine still lock when the female is shedding. But my male doesn't show interest when he himself is in shed.
    I guess you can put them together and see how is it first only you decide, it wont bring harm though

    Yes you can still pair them. They may or may not lock but you can pair them. It doesn't hurt anything.
