Temporary Red Belly
My female granite has developed RI. This is my first time treating it. On Monday, she was taken to the vet, diagnosis was confirmed and started on Baytril. She received a booster shot at the vet, and I was told to withhold treatment for a day, and continue with liquid oral administration. Tomorrow, I start day 1 of the oral treatment.
But I've noticed that, if she's just hanging out in the cage, and I pick her up, I can see an underside pinkish hue in splotchy areas. It's mostly her lower half to the tip of her tail on the underside. She did lock up about two weeks ago, and I don't know if that's a factor, but after handling her for about 5 minutes, the pinkness goes away.
I am not sure if it is something I should be worried about or not. She hasn't ovulated yet. Could it be a reaction to her antibiotics?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Has she shed in a while? Also i'm sure your already doing this per the vet's instructions, but separate her and leave her alone for the entire length of treatment. She might have got it from another animal or just because the husbandry went south.
If she isn't due for a shed, maybe a quick call to the vet is in order...

This is all post-shed. She locked up two weeks ago, during her shed, and shed about 3 days after the lock. That's when I started to notice signs of an RI. She was making popping sounds as she breathed, and I was concerned but kept mindful that it may be due to her shed. I kept an eye on her. Then she started resting her head higher than her body, and that's when I was pretty sure it was RI. And then by the day I took her into the vet, on Monday, she had developed intermittent "gaping" of the mouth. Yet, another clear sign. Upon the vet's initial check up, she had very minimal mucus, but it was still there none the less.
I'm just going to give the veterinarian a call later today... Just seeing what you guys had to offer.

Is this the female that locked up with your newly purchased spider, the one that didn't get quarantined?
