New juvenile JCP super nippy!
So we picked up our new jcp on saturday. Got him in a rack. Offered him food on sunday and took it no problem. Only thing is he is super nippy. I check on him and as soon as he sees me, hes snapping away. I know cp's are nippy when young. Should i start handling him and get him used to it or should i wait awhile. All my other snakes never struck at me, and im not scared of his bite, hes soo small. Just wondering what would be the best route to go.

when i first got my jcp it took him about 2 months before he calmed down. all his baby pics hes trying to bite the camera lol. now he doesn't even strike at f/t rats lol. to feed him i just put them in the cage and he just eats it sometime during the night.

Give him time to settle down, he just moved and needs some chill-out time for sure.

I just got a baby jcp a few weeks ago and he was super "chill" the first few days, but then it started going after my face! Ive always heard they calm down as they age. I'm just giving mine some time before I try handling the snake again.

Re: New juvenile JCP super nippy!
Congratz with the new addition! I still want a JCP to this day, I envy you LOL.
JCPs can be nippy when young but some actually eventually grow out of their nippiness and become calmer even without handling.
If you really wanna handle him now to get him more used to you then I'd suggest just handling him even if he nips you multiple times. Since he's a juvenile I'm sure the bites won't hurt that bad. I'm still a wuss to get bit but it happens .

Give him time. My carpets took awhile to stop biting at everything that moved around them.

I got lucky that only one of my 3 carpets was a hell spawn. Hazard would strike at ANYTHING,including herself. After a lot of handling and a lot of bites she calmed down enough to be put around my neck and not get me in the face. So just handle your lil one a lot and in a few months he should calm down.
