    What kind of setup are you using?

    SOUNDS like you need your probe right on the heat tape on the outside of the setup.

    THEN adjust your thermostat up or down to give your animal a hot spot of no higher than 95. I aimed for 92-94 when I kept Balls.

    It'll of course be cooler on top of the aspen, but your animal can burrow down to the heat should it decide to.

    In my experience, putting probes inside enclosures yielded negative effects.
