    Tank too big?

I have a 20 gallon aquarium set up with 2 hides each side, (half of plastic hut). Inside with cocoa bedding ect. He is only about 20 inches long and he is constantly climbing to get out. Ive heard this tank could be too big for him and I should downgrade to a smaller plastic container until he is large enough for this tank? I am confused.

Is he a new snake? How long have you had him?

About 5 days, I figured this was probably him being new or insecure

Have you let him settle into his new home. You should leave him alone for a week at the least to handle him. Except for waters changing and spot cleaning. A move to a new home can be stressful for a snake, just as it is for us.

Are your temps and humidity okay? What are your readings on the warm and cool side?

Warm is reading 90 or so, cool side is around 78-80. Humidity is at 35 which is awful, I am spraying the tank down almost daily, I think i need to put tin foil on the top of the screen to help keep it in.

yeah, snakes will explore the tank if they're new. that's nothing bad. that is a perfectly fine tank size, as long as the hides are not too big it shouldn't be a problem. also, if there is a smell in the air that is new, they'll try to get a better "sniff" of it to see what's going on. my snake does that when i come home, kind of like a dog sniffing you to see where you've been.

I guess I should stop reading yahoo answer posts, lol. Thanks guy, also with feeding, he was fed Tuesday 1/11/11. And the place I bought him from said he probably won't eat this past Tuesday and to try closer to the weekend. Should I just wait till Tuesday again and not throw him off?

usually people suggest waiting 5 days after you put them in the new environment before you mess with them and try to feed them. it just depends if they're comfortable or stressed. you can always try to feed and see if they take it, if not then just wait a few days and try again.
