Breeding rack couple questions
Hey all I'm expanding my ball python collection a bit and I'm going to build a rack to house/breed a few more animals. Here's my plan I will build it to hold between 10 and 20 balls and I plan to use 11" flexwatt at the rear of the tubs for heat attached to a Helix thermostat. The first question is kinda stupid but bear with me. Do I buy the latching sterilite tubs and use them with the lids on or the cheaper version and use without the lids? Second stupid question, do I drill holes in the sides of the tubs for airflow or will this just increase heat loss too much? Lastly, if I simply slide the tubs in what are my odds of escape? Sorry for all the newb questions and thanks for your help. Also, if anyone has rack pics they could post that would be awesome. Thanks.

Drilling holes is good for airflow.. not too many. but it also depends if you have the lids on it or not.
And the chances of escape are very high if you don't remember to put the tubs all the way in... and very low if you do remember.. lol

no lids, they prove to be a pain when you are just doing simple stuff like water changes. As far as holes in tubs the amount depends on the ambient humidity in the room where they will be housed, so start with small amount first, then increase as needed.

for instance, in my snake room it's naturally below 60 degrees lol so I use a space heater to get me my ambient cold side temp of 80-81. because of the heater I lost almost all moisture in the air so my humidity tanked. I bought a $45 warm mist humidifier, let it run full blast for about an hour every few hours and viola my ambient room humidity is 40 percent and tub humidity is 50. I don't use holes in my tubs because when I did I lost too much humidity. there's a small gap between where the top of the tub meets the rack and that's all they need as far as airflow. plus I look at them near 5 times a day haha. if you need less humidity in the tubs, drill 3 holes, check it, rinse repeat until desired results.
