    Alot Like Plinko.

Hey everyone last night i was looking around on youtube at some people collections and there was this one younger fellow talking about breeding his snakes. One was spinner/pastel and the other was Butter/enchi then my brain had a fart thinking about the babies. How many possible different snakes could come out from this? My better half wonderd by as i was righting this down and said "It seems alot like plinko" we talked for a bit and came to it really is lucky where the babies would land genetically there is 6 bases in 2 snake (5 and normal) and the odds of getting 2 of the same is in a clutch of 6 is like almost 0. But is it really Poop lucky when it comes down to breeding multi morphed snakes like that? To me and my lady it seems like plinko theres like 12+ out comes and u have 6 chips and they should all end up someplace diffferent each time. Right?

If you want to really cook your noodle think about this: each baby has a 50/50 chance of picking up each individual mutation. 50/50 on the pastel, 50/50 on the spider, 50/50 on the enchi etc....also the odds are the same for hitting a normal as they are for hitting all 5 mutations in one animal. That is what makes breeding fun. unless you are dealing with the super form of codoms clipping eggs on a multigene clutch is like Christmas. You never know what your going to get.

het = heterozygous, all of those genes are heterozygous, doesn't matter if their dom co-dom or recessive. 1 copy of gene = heterozygous, 2 copy of gene = homozygous

well yea but once you start sayin het for stuff that it dont need to be people are gonna get confused.and unless the gene is codom your not gonna have a homozygous unless its just the wild type but theres no super wild type.

simple genes, there is always a heterozygous and homozygous form, doesn't matter if its recessive, co-dom or dom.

homozygous Butter = BEL, homozygous Enchi = Super Enchi, homozygous Pin = homozygous pin (guess we didn't get creative in that name), homozygous albino = albino, ect.

people shouldn't be confused about it, in fact I think more people should explain it that way to new people so there is less confusion. how many times have you herd someone say "there no such thing as a het pastel, its co-dom".... obviously genetics wasn't explained to them very well. all het means in one gene, homozygous means 2 genes paired, doesn't get any more simple and less confusing than that.

That's why I prefer refer to my yellow belly as "het ivory". Although with the multi-gene complexes that gets weird...
