You can really only know a locality if you know the lineage.

If you don't know the lineage back to original wild-caught adults, then you don't know what locality(or localities) make up its genetics.

There are differences in looks of different localities, but it very unreliable in determining purity. If you weren't told a "type", I'd guess it is not a pure locality specimen. Just call it a GTP and let its looks speak for itself.

I highly recommend the book "The More Complete Chondro" for any GTP keepers.

    Re: type of gtp?

I agree with above. local is VERY hard to just look at a snake and tell. But with that being said I can look at a Biak and tell its a Biak or a cross.. looking at your avatar pic it looks like a Japura.. but its ONLY a guess. Locals are not like a BP morph u cant just look and tell.

With GTP its so important to buy from a reputable breeder to know history on the animal u are buying ie: parents ect. to know the local and some history.

Greg Maxwell's book is a top reader. its educational for sure and the knowledge he shares just from his own experiences is really a great read.
    I hope this helps.
