The first thing I would do is try to find someone in your area. I live in Iowa and there are actually 2 breeders within an hour of me, there was three 6 months ago, 4 if you include me. I was already friends with 2 of the 3 breeders, and met the 3rd on here. I went out to lunch with him almost weekly to 'talk snake' with him. He was a new breeder when I met him, but talking to someone who is only a couple years ahead of you is a huge help. There is so much to learn and you will always learn new things with these creatures!!!
I would start by looking for people on here that are in your area, then see if your state has a herp society or something of the sort. Then you could look at the NARBC website for vendors and see if any are from your area. If you still have no luck, then you need to start talking with people at the NARBC show. Eventually you will find someone and most likely they will be happy to show you the ropes. That's the nice thing about this community, majority of the breeders are happy to tell you tips and tricks they follow. And like llovelace said, be really careful about going to people's homes. I would be leery of going to anyone's home or bringing anyone in my home. Make sure you really get to know the person first!
Good luck!
